findart Georgius van Os, like his father Jan van Os, specialized in painting still lifes with flowers, fruits, and game. He learned the craft from his father, showing so many talents at a young age that he was allowed to draw several illustrations of the famous Flora Batava (1800) by Jan Kops.
The artist lived in Harlem and Paris alternately at that time. Georgius van Os became one of the most famous still life painters of the early 19th century, in part due to his amazing use of the brush and his magnificent natural fidelity to flowers and fruits.
Van Os's works are in museums in America, Belgium, France, Italy, Holland, Germany, and other countries.
