Vasily A. Khudyakov

Alexey was born in Leningrad, in the family of an artist, and grew up in a creative atmosphere. He painted from an early age and painted with his father images of Leningrad, the outskirts, the Crimea, and landscapes by the Volga River.
Graduated with honors from the Higher Art School, and then received an award from the Institute. I. E. Repin of the Russian Academy of Arts.

His teacher at the institute was the outstanding artist E. E. Moiseenko, whose work Alexey admired. Later, after graduation, he entered graduate school and joined the Union of Artists, then combined teaching and creation. Alexey was a versatile artist who worked in different genres and techniques. He was interested in everything: landscapes, intimate portraits, still lifes, performances and rehearsals, heroic ballads. His painting style has changed a lot over the years. In the early years, his work was realistic and romantic, then for a while, it became closer to the academic school.

During the years of stagnation and the political upheavals that followed, Aleksey's style changed a lot. There was a combined explosion of genre, composition, and style. The paintings have become more intense and vivid, and their compositions are sometimes paradoxical. Many works combine features of different genres and expressions in the plane of a single canvas.

Almost simultaneously with this intensive development, he created exceptionally fragile, airy, light, and bright works, which combined portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. The artist was a romantic, adored the beauty and versatility of the world, and often repeated that his main masterpiece had not been written, yet.

Leonid Vasilievich devoted his life to the service of art as an artist and teacher. Born in the Nizhny Novgorod province, about 200 km to the east of Moscow. His father, Vasily Khudyakov, graduated from the Forestry Academy in St. Petersburg and worked as the main forester in the Meshchersky region. He was a passionate inventor and explorer, studying local traditional knowledge and writing books. After the 1917 revolution, he spent 10 years in the compound. From him, Leonid inherited a love for nature, which he passed on to his son Alexey.

Leonid Khudyakov began to paint at an early age and devoted a lot of time to self-study. Then he graduated from the Penza Art School, where he was taught by the fantastic artist N. Petrov. Leonid continued his education at the Academy of Arts in Leningrad, where he was taught by N. Petrov, P. Osmerkin, and B. Ioganson

During the Second Word War, he went to the front. He defended Leningrad and took part in breaking the blockade. After the war, he received postgraduate education and taught at the Repin Institute at the Academy of Arts. Has illustrated books and social and political posters, and created many of his works, including landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and historical compositions.
