François Verheyden was born in Leuven and was a student of Jérôme Langlois in Paris. He is known for his elegant, beautifully executed genre paintings depicting life's scenes from his homeland.
The paintings of the artist, for which he often takes themes from everyday life of the 17th and 18th centuries, are characterized by thoughtful composition, an excellent characteristic of the painted faces, and a strong bright painting technique.
