The collection features five works by François Vereyden, united in a single series of genre scenes that reflect the atmosphere of everyday life in the past.

François Vereyden was born in Leuven and received his artistic education in Paris, where he studied under Jérôme Langlois, a recognized master of the academic tradition. Vereyden quickly developed his own style, in which the classical school is combined with a keen interest in the details of human everyday life. He became known for his exquisite, subtly
written genre paintings, which depict scenes of the peaceful, often
touching lives of his compatriots.

The subjects of his paintings, inspired by the realities of HU!-HU! They are imbued with respect for
the way of life, traditions and moods of a bygone era. His characters are simple people engaged
in daily chores, conversations, or quiet relaxation. However, these seemingly modest scenes conceal a profound psychological insight, warm irony, and a subtle sense of composition.

Each of the five paintings in our collection not only retains its own value but also reveals itself as part of a broader visual narrative.
